Although it’s not about car hire, you may be interested to know that just because someone has a licence doesn’t mean they’re qualified ……to fly!

A 41 year old man was arrested in the Netherlands just as he was about to fly 100 passengers to Ankara. His licence was false, yet he’d managed to fly jets for some 13 years before being found out!

The man certainly got around as he was reported to be Swedish, living in Milan and flying for different European airlines over the last 13 years.

A spokesman for The Dutch Pilots Association was quoted as saying that a licence wasn’t something that was checked unless you did something wrong! One has to wonder what, besides flying without a licence, the fake pilot did!
