South Africa drives on the left hand side of the road so all cars are right hand drive. The roads are very well maintained so are pleasant to drive on.

The national Highways and city Freeways 120KPH (75MPH)
Public roads outside built up areas 100KPH (30MPH)
BUilt up areas 60KPH (35MPH)
Always check road signs to be sure you know what the posted speed limit is.

If you can, ensure you have a working fully charged mobile phone with you, so that if you need to you can call for help (one of those things like insurance you hope never to have to use) if you're in a hire car, then check with the car rental company to see if they offer mobile/cell phone rental.
